The term “public history” refers to how historical knowledge is mobilized to reach the public in accessible and engaging ways. Public history is history outside the classroom and the academic history book.
Some examples of public history include museums, historic sites, movies, television shows, novels, popular history books, video games, board games, comic books, graphic novels, and plays.
Public history is also a field of study, one you can pursue at Brandon University. You can major, minor, or do a certificate in Public History. If you like history, you’ll love public history. Why not consider making it your career?
